Only a few days ago we
posted a blog about LMVH and now it seems the global fashion house is in the
spotlight again. The picture above depicts Rihanna wearing a tank top by fast fashion retailer Charlotte Russe which could be said to potentially infringe Louis Vuitton trademark logo, (source: The fashion Law). The IPgirl posted a comment responding to the above sighting of
the the art work on Charlotte Russe garment depicting a strikingly similar resemblance to the LV monogram mark by saying
this: “Very similar – but do the similarities render
the mark & artwork confusingly similar? Dilution of their mark or passing
off? The most obvious distinction is the use of line in the upside down A. But
is it artwork parody or willful infringement?”
IPgirl wonders what LVMH will, if anything, have to say about this. The fashion giant is well known for it's aggressive trademark enforcement, and has been known for not taking fashion parodies too lightly.
